Fairleigh Dickinson University - Historic Orangerie Library

EDI provided comprehensive professional asbestos services for this complex project within an occupied historic university library. Services included inspection, project design and specifications, project management, Asbestos Safety Control Monitoring (ASCM), air monitoring, abatement oversight, and coordination of subcontracted asbestos abatement. Full containment was constructed on elevated scaffolding to facilitate removal of spray-applied fireproofing while maintaining building operations and Subchapter 8 compliance.

Historical construction documents indicated that asbestos had been incorporated into pavement on the North Apron. EDI performed the investigation using core sampling and laboratory analysis, confirming asbestos in the asphalt. EDI then worked with Philadelphia Air Management Services to develop and demonstrate an acceptable alternative removal approach using milling equipment with PPE, engineering controls, and air monitoring. EDI prepared the project specifications and alternative procedures for the PHL bid documents and provided complete professional oversight and air monitoring during implementation.

EDI was called after improper removal of asbestos-containing floor tile had begun at a New Jersey school. EDI assessed the condition, developed the corrective response, and coordinated the professional services needed to bring the project back into compliance and move the work forward.

Healthcare Facility - Mold / Water Intrusion

EDI investigated extensive mold contamination in patient rooms and administrative areas and determined that water infiltration through deficiencies in the exterior brick facade was the underlying cause. The assignment included building-envelope evaluation, mold assessment, and development of corrective actions.
